THE BREWERY TEAM
ROLE: BREWING MANAGER
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and curious individual to join our Warehouse and Distribution team at Curious Brewery in Ashford, Kent.

Responsibilities:
We are looking for an individual with brewing management experience who will oversee our brewing process from raw materials in, through to brewhouse operations, cellar management, and processing of bright beer ready to package. The candidate will:
Oversee our 19 fermentation and conditioning vessels (2,900 HL) to ensure fermentation timelines, yeast health, quality, and productivity are optimized.
Manage filtration processes to ensure bright beer is available, in spec, and ready to pack according to packaging requirement’s
This role has two direct reports and oversees a total team of six. You will be responsible for all brewing activities including product quality, hygiene, safety, & compliance. You will manage all aspects of the brewing team from recruitment through to training and development as well as shift rotas and deployment.
You will work closely with the quality technician to ensure wort and beer specifications are met throughout the process. You will be responsible for overseeing recipes adjustments & corrections in coordination with the head of production and Brewhouse Lead. You will ensure that all compliance and quality standards are met. The Brewhouse Lead and Cellar Lead will help ensure smooth operation of both areas and that rotas are adhered to and timelines are met. You will also work closely with our Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that regular preventative maintenance is carried out on brewing, fermenting, and processing equipment
There will also be opportunity to learn and support other areas of the business. We are a small, but growing team and successful individuals will have a proven track record of problem-solving and doing whatever it takes to hit quality and performance targets.
Manage our 50 HL five-vessel brewhouse to brew between 400 – 700 HL / week.
Requirements:
You will have at least 5 years’ experience in the brewing industry and hold an IBD diploma level accreditation or similar. You will also have demonstrated food industry experience in a management, junior-management, or supervisor type role. You should be familiar with food industry HACCP, ES, continuous improvement, and production management standards.
You’ll be confident, motivated, and willing to improve the beer and cider which is at the heart of what we do. People management experience and good communication skills are essential as we believe that strong communication makes a workday go smoothly.
Quality:
Qualified candidates will also be considered for a joint Brewing & Quality Manager role. This will include an additional report and oversee lab & quality functions. The candidate will, in addition to brewing experience, have quality technician or management experience.

Starting salary is dependent on experience. We are looking for someone we can develop into a core member of our production management team.
On top of this we also offer enrollment into accredited training courses in brewing, beer serving, packaging, health and safety, forklift driving, first aid, and can find courses to suit whatever skills you are curious about and the business needs.
Based at our brewery in Ashford, we operate Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 19:00 p.m. but may need to expand these hours as the business grows. This role is 09:00 to 17:00, but the successful candidate will need to be flexible within these hours to help support the needs of the brewing team.
